So some of you may have noticed that you’ve clicked on your “favourites” tool bar and came up with a picture of little ol’ me.

“What is this!?” you curse. “Sure this picture is a stunning example of Rob’s adonis like good looks but where is the funny strip we crave so much?”

Alas it is not to be as I was busy this week and Ramon was away in New York. With such time and distance constraints we could not put our heads together to deliver the fine artistic masterpieces of comedy you’ve learned to know and love. On top of that Ramon (pronounced ‘RAH’ -’MŌN’ for the uninitiated) has seen fit to contract some form of virus stateside. I keep telling him it’s avian bird flu. He keeps telling me to shut up.With such obstacles in our path we’ve been forced to reconvene next week with a fiesta of laughs and hilarity you are sure to enjoy. Accept our humble apologies as we now must prepare to see our good friend, and yours, Vince in a new documentary short called $4 dollar haircut. Playing now at the The HOTDOCS documentary festival here in Toronto.

dear god has it been that long!? have me not matured in said time and elevated ourselves to a more cerebral comic of intellectual providence!?

apparently not. hell, i don’t even know what i just said.

by rights we should have a lot (and i mean A LOT) more strips after five years, but there were some lean times in the beginning and updating was sparse. well lets cross our fingers and hope things keep on track as we drift into the future.

should we do something special for our five years? nah, we’re not so vain.

okay, we are kinda thinking, debating, perhaps assembling slowly in the background, a collection showcasing the first 5 years of stuff bns. whether it be strips, poster art, lost or hidden strips, doodles, racy photo’s and so forth.

anybody keen on this?

thank you all for comin’ round and reading our little corner of the web world, whether you got here five years ago or today. thanks.

took a bit of time this week as i was stumped with closer for the strip, ideas were bandied about between rob and myself, but the well was dry so i went to the source and called andy b himself and asked what might spew forth from his mouth after gazing lovingly into robs eyes. the man came back with what we have, it gave me a hearty GUFFAW so i went with it!

speaking of other comics, rob and i will get a few links and from people here and there asking us to take a look at their strips or whatnot and i’ll be honest i’ll forget plug’em cause my brain is usually fried from being overworked.

…and lastly this weekend sees myself and rob sittin’ and looking pretty at toronto fan appreciation show this weekend. the show runs on saturday and sunday. i’m keeping my bakc pack light, so i don’t think i’ll be bringing much swag, but i will have my sketchpad in tow. so for all those who might be keen on a sketch or two, whether it be bns, kukuburi, wildcat or any other superhero for that matter.

headshots will be $5, full body shots will range from $20 - $40 depending on the complexity of the request.hope to see some of you there this weekend!

it’s been a long week, but the light is at the end of the tunnel! things are coming to a close early next week and my schedule will be returning to, ahem, normal…

speaking of original art, i have been debating selling off the original art from the squash. anybody interested?

as well, we are going to begin offering archival prints of all the comics. so if you have a favourite, you’ll be able to get a large 13″ x 19″ (the size might change slightly) to hang on your wall.

oh. and evan’s thinking of making a comeback with his former column “ask evan” so start thinking of some sizable queries.

on a related note of updates, i know many of you have asked why we don’t update more. essentially it’s the workload of doing one strip, the collaboration process and my freelance career which pays the bills. i would love to bring butternut to you the readers more often, as more is always better and it would allow rob and i to tell more cohesive stories.

so i am toying with a couple ideas.

if we were to do 3 times per week, say, but in b&w would that be cool, or do you prefer the colour to stay?

another option would be akin to what danielle of GWS has done, by taking the initiative by actively soliciting donations to reach a particular monetary goal to help meet her financial needs in order to provide GWS daily. so, for all intents and purposes i could set a goal to cover BNS, in order to bring it to you the readers more often. would this be an option that seems viable?
